MISSION BRIEF: Honoring Our Past, Owning Our Present, Defining Our Future
For 43 years, Air Med has defined excellence in critical care transport. Each milestone, each advancement, each standard we've set started with professionals who understood a fundamental truth: excellence isn't what we do sometimes - it's who we are always.
Our veterans built this legacy through countless decisions in critical moments, proving that greatness comes from the discipline to do things right, every time, no matter who's watching.
WHERE WE ARE
Today we face a moment of truth. We have certain metrics that tell a story of slipping standards - not from lack of skill or dedication, but from small compromises that add up.
Documentation gaps, missing data points, incomplete records, each one seems minor in the moment, but together they reveal a drift from the standards that built our reputation.
We also are not acknowledging enough of the outstanding and consistent work done by our crews. Some bases maintain the highest standards despite every challenge, proving what's possible when crews truly own their performance. Others have let small compromises become habits, affecting not just their numbers but their entire base's reputation.
WHERE WE'RE GOING
In 2025, it’s time for a re-commitment.
To ourselves, our partners, and our patients.
Every chart we complete, every patient we treat, every metric we track, every detail we document isn't just paperwork - it's proof of our commitment to complete patient care.
This is why we're introducing our new manifesto.
A declaration of who we are and what we stand for:
WE ARE AIR MED
The same drive that pushed us in the ER, ICU, and The Streets still pushes us now.
The hunger to master our craft.
The discipline to stay ready.
The humility to keep learning.
WE ARE AIR MED
Every call teaches.
Every challenge sharpens.
Every partner strengthens.
This is how we grow.
WE ARE AIR MED
Preparation builds confidence.
Partnership builds trust.
Together, we build excellence.
WE ARE AIR MED
Our actions prove our commitment—
To our patients, our partners, and our profession.
PERFORMANCE METRICS
What gets measured gets improved. Starting this quarter, we're raising the bar on accountability through transparent base performance tracking. Each quarter, you'll see exactly where your base stands through comprehensive report cards.
No sugar coating.

No hiding from the numbers.

Just clear metrics that show who's maintaining standards and who needs to step up.
For this first edition, we're focusing on missing metrics trends over the past few years.

Why?

Because these simple documentation requirements reveal something powerful about accountability.

They're the small decisions, made daily, that show our real commitment to excellence.

Here's what the data tells us:
When a base's numbers slip, it's rarely a team-wide issue. Often, just one or two crew members account for the majority of missing metrics - yet their choices impact their entire base's reputation.

One person's shortcuts become everyone's problem.
That's why accountability matters at every level.

FUTURE REPORT CARDS
Going forward newsletters will have more in-depth reporting across bases on performance metrics we have been tracking for years. What we have found is everyone's individuals choices affect the entire base and department. For example, one person's missing metrics affected a entire base's results. This one person made the difference from being near the top vs near the bottom.

Just like one missed assessment can change a patient's outcome, one member's documentation , reporting, and performance etc can impact their entire base.
Your Choice:
  • Be the one who elevates your base
  • Or be the one who holds it back
1
1. Accountability Matters
Every crew member plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care and documentation.
2
2. Impact on Reputation
Missing metrics not only affect individual performance but also impact the reputation of the entire base.
3
3. Collective Responsibility
It's crucial to recognize that everyone's actions contribute to the overall success and reputation of Air Med.
MASTERING YOUR CRAFT
Curiosity drives mastery.
The best Air Med crews aren't just skilled - they're relentlessly curious.. They question assumptions. Challenge protocols to make them even better. Push their knowledge deeper. That's the mindset we're building in 2025.
Let's be direct: Some of our training hasn't met our standards. The Hamilton T1 rollout showed us we need to do better. Instead of defending past approaches, we're evolving. Starting now.

ADVANCED CLINICAL TRAINING INITIATIVE
First up: Ventilation Management Mastery
Why ventilation? Because it demands both technical skill and clinical judgment. It's where science meets art. Where protocols meet critical thinking. Where your expertise directly impacts patient outcomes.

The guide is just the beginning. Each quarter brings new advanced training modules. Topics driven by your feedback. Depth shaped by your needs. Excellence powered by your curiosity.
